here are some tips for surviving very hot weather from a person who is from a place that gets very hot and also doesn’t react to heat well:
- don’t move
- if you don’t have to, don’t go anywhere. don’t do anything.
- just find a relatively cool place and lay there. drink a tasty bev too.
- the pool/beach might seem tempting but it’s actually miserable in the searing heat
- laying on the floor helps if it’s really hot and you’ve got no AC
- be lazy I’m serious
- only go out to exercise/enjoy the weather after the sun has started to set or early in the morning before it heats up
you’d think all of this is very rational but then my neighbor decides to mow his lawn AT 2 PM. DURING SIESTA TIME. GO TO SLEEP ON THE COUCH. HAVE A GLASS OF TEA.

I’m kind of glad to hear that everyone does this. Because it means it isn’t colonizer bullshit, it’s what everyone does. It’s just people discovering new things. Everyone goes:
“Oh hey these people have their own style of [language A’s word for thing. Say, what do you call it?”
“Oh it’s [language B’s word for thing].”
“Got it, it’s [language B’s word for thing] variety [language A’s word for thing]”
added to which it is LITERALLY JUST LINGUISTIC SHORTHAND for
[item] the way [culture] makes it.
If you don’t want sliced bread, you want bread the way Eastern Indians make it you ask for Roti, not bread. Because Roti is bread THE WAY [EASTERN] INDIANS MAKE IT. Like fuck, it’s not that complicated a concept.
OF COURSE it’s not colonizer bullshit! It’s just linguistic shorthand!

Today (June 26, 2023) is the 20th anniversary of Lawrence v. Texas, the most important Supreme Court case in gay history. It finally ruled that consensual sodomy cannot be a crime and all state laws criminalizing it are invalid.
People don’t realize how recent it was that cops could arrest you solely for having gay sex, in the privacy of your own bedroom. It was slowly decriminalized state by state, but like 1/3 of all states still had those laws in place until 2003.
It didn’t get nearly as much fanfare and recognition at the time as the 2015 decision that legalized gay marriage. But I think it established a far more crucial right.
Fully losing it at this facebook screenshot. 22 inches of green and 1.5 of carrot.

I think people need to get better at saying “maybe, maybe not” or “do I really need an answer?” when faced with uncertainty. this is something that gets taught to people with OCD, but I think the masses would benefit
“what kind of attraction am I feeling?” would it be the end of the world if that question didn’t have an answer?
“am I allowed to identify as x when I’m not sure if it applies to me?” maybe! who cares!
literally. you can apply the “fuck around and find out” method to anything
continuously feeling the need to hunt for answers is going to eat you up inside. take it from me. your life gets so much easier when you let yourself be unsure
